Got a new surround sound system for Christmas which was great! However, the circa 1980 system had massive components and I had built the entertainment center to fit each one. So what to do with all the extra space? The space above the tv that held the old receiver, vcr, dvd player etc. now houses four 8×10 photos of the grandsons in hinged frames that I made. I also added accent lighting above the pictures to showcase them.
On each side of the television that once held speakers I added doors and drawers. My wife is excited to use the drawers for the hundreds of loose photos floating around the house. She can organize them now by family or color or whatever pleases her! We didn’t want traditional pulls on the doors and drawers so I designed a t-handle and glued scrabble pieces to the front. The hardest part was coming up with enough 5 letter words and using only one scrabble game!

Nice conversion. I have something like that to do sometime soon so I appreciate the ideas.
