will delivered his latest banjo last week, #007. it didn’t go to james bond, but to a local gentleman who wanted a ‘vermont themed’ banjo featuring all local woods and vermont themed inlays. the cherry was from arlington, the walnut from rupert, and the hardhack fretboard was from a friend in south dorset. overall a pleasing combination of woods, colors, antiqued brass hardware and fine music … there is a video clip with sound, both clawhammer and fingerpicking style on will’s website, it sounded great to me and the client was thrilled … there are more photos, both finished and in process at this link to my dorset customfurniture blog.

i also couldn’t resist posting one of our other ‘vermont’ products, sam’s metal beltbuckles … he makes lots of different styles with fish, turkeys, mountains, chainsaws and stuff, but the map of vermont is his most popular … #160 something and counting. there is another banjo post on my blog where will made a new 5 string neck neck for a 100 year old banjo pot that was missing its original mandolin style neck … also a sweet project with a polished steel pot and historically copied inlay details … that post is here if you are interested in banjo history or instrument making.

Fantstic banjo! I love the sound of it on the video. I would really like to learn to play. If I could have any banjo, this would be the one. I love the look of it, it is simply elegant. Nice work!
