I came up with the idea for the catio (spin on the human version of the patio) after my veterinarian wife told me that the cats that live at her clinic got respiratory problems due to poor air circulation in their living area. It’s not an original idea; there are numerous examples on the internet of ones people have built for their cats. It is 8’x20’ in size, made of treated lumber, wire animal fence, has a clear plastic panel top and a gravel floor. I removed a window and put a cat door in so that they can enter and exit the clinic or we can lock them out when we don’t want them out. For human entrance and exit I have a two door system similar to the type found in zoo aviaries that prevent them from dashing out to escape while we are going in or out of the enclosure. It was a lot of fun to build and I would encourage you to build one for your cat at home. It will keep them safe, healthy and happy.

Yes they do but I am going to have to move it next year to make room for the new clinic and place it in another location adjacent to the old building. Funny thing is the rabbit that lives there loves it the most and gets mad when he has to go in. Thanks Todd

Like it! Built a more crude version for my chop/barn cats. I wasn’t a member of J’s back then, might have grabbed a few of your ideas. I call it the kitty jail yard. LOL I think it helps the cats to appreciate the warmth in the MN winters. LOL

Very nice, my wife just saw this, now she tells me all my outdoor spring projects have been pushed back, this is now on top of the list.
