This is my current project; it’s a Fir mantel with matching cabinets with bookcases. The mantel is done and now I have to finish the cabinets and the bookcases that go above them. The mantel, trim and front piece are all solid fir, while the sides and main piece above the mantel is 3/4 fir ply. The corner trim pieces are feather jointed for strength and show close vertical grain on both faces. The finish was professionally sprayed here in town. I had to make it in place, then take it across town to have them spray it, bring it back, and reassemble it…..I’m thinking about learning more about finishes. The second picture is the “before” shot. More pictures to come.

Thank you for your feedback, after joining this sight I’m down grading my title to carpenter. Some of the finish work on this sight is amazing!
