Quilt Hanger Shelf

Mom asked me to make her a quilt hanger that also had a shelf, so this is what I came up with for an early Christmas present. Inspiration from fellow LJ David Drummond's project.

57” long to fit the 52” quilts she makes. Cherry body, quilt patterns: cherry, maple, and walnut. Took a lot of inspiration and jig techniques for the quilt patterns from LG blogs and youtube videos on cutting boards/segmented bowls.

Coolest thing, once I got back home the first picture was sent to me. Mom set all of the Christmas Santas my late father created on the top. Dad’s work on top of my own, really made me proud to share this passion with him.

Lesson learned from this project? Who knew quilt patterns translated so well in wood? Probably everyone but me until now :)

Thanks for looking!

That is really cool. Beautiful work on the inlay. My wife has recently gotten into quilting…one of these is in order.
