Hey everyone, hope all is well. As always I appreciate all of your comments and awesome projects you share.

With the holidays coming faster by the moment, I though it might be fun to try and turn out some holiday ornaments using my Springpole lathe. Me and my girlfriend thought these would be neat to hang in a sort of icicle kind of idea.

We will experiement with festive holiday colors painting them and see what we get as we go forward. So maybe this is a part one…lol

These were fun to make and learn with. I used dowels in Poplar, Maple and Oak. I was very impressed that with all this being non machine and strictly foot powered….that this lathe can do the job with such small diameters without chucking these things across the shop floor….lol

Also a great new challenge in working with smaller and lighter details…these are still roughed up a bit, so a little more tending too…and Oak….haaaa… dried form…that’s a bit of a task at first.

These are just pure freestlye ideas with the spirit of the holiday season and for added knowledge and experience to grow from.

I hope this may give you some fun ideas of your own and great spirit as well.

Be well and please remember to enjoy those simple moments that take longer than you think they should….those are the greatest opportunites to be thankful for being alive…... in that moment.

Spring pole lathe That is totally COOL! Great Idea do post the refinements and coloring. Which wood did you prefer turning?
