For the last few months I’ve been working to improve my scrollsawing skills. I’ve found some interesting patterns from various sources and used various hardwoods including mahogany, maple, walnut, and cedar. The thickness varied from 1/2” to 1” so I could use scraps on hand. Although the designs were meant to be stand-alone pieces, I decided to use the wood surrounding the animal pattern (adding a backing) as a frame to contain all the pieces. This allowed the designs to function as both a decor or as a puzzle.
All but the first pictured piece were finished with clear wipe-on poly. The “climbing cats” were stained with a transparent stain to differentiate the figures before using the wipe-on poly.
Thanks for looking.

These are Great Lorna!!
My favorite is the Climbing Cats!!
Good Job too, cutting through the thicker Hardwoods with the Scroll Saw… that can be a bear itself sometimes… :)

Nice work Lorna. I have made most of those, but not as you did them. Very innovative!

Hi Lorna. These are great! Nice variety in the projects themselves and the wood species. Your decision to venture into new wood species paid off.

As usual, when you decide to do something… it is done with precision and skill.
Excellent group of animals.
