A neighbor friend of mine had a old intercom on the side of her pantry cabinet and she asked me to take it out and make a small shelf in its place. The shelf measures 14×10x5 and has a small hockey puck halogen light in it. The second picture is of the back painted white to match the inside of the pantry and the switch I installed to turn the light on and off. There was a 110v line to the intercom that I changed out to a duplex outlet for power. I matched the birch cabinet using an early american stain that I had.

Nice adaptation of the space Bob.
It looks like it was supposed to be there and the light really sets it off.

Nice work! Way better than an obsolete intercom.
