I have been working on a basement remodel for a customer and this is one of the new features that I designed and built to contend with 2 support posts in the middle of the room. The homeowner wanted to make the posts disappear, so this is what I came up with. It is a 2 sided base cabinet with a wine rack on one side and door and drawer storage on the other. The upper cabinet is accessible from both sides with glass in all 4 doors and a glass shelf to display fine stemware. I included a few pictures post-completion. I am also constructing about 60 linear feet of bookcase in a library/media room in the back of the basement. Have yet to stain it. Pictures to follow.

That’s a fantastic way to deal with posts that would otherwise be an eyesore!

Todd, it’s a very creative way to hide the posts and a wonderful job on the cabinet itself. Congratulations.

VERY creative and very well executed. That will be a nice hangout spot in the center of the basement. I can already see people crowed around chatting during holiday get togethers. Should be enjoyed for years and years.

Only one question, you have the wine rack, but where’s the glass front beer fridge?!? ;-)

Great work!!!

Have your say...
