Back in August I pumped out a lot of work for a three day Fair and bombed! In my thinking, I needed a piece that would absolutely set me apart from every other vendor in that building. This cabinet has all the elements that I love: it has legs that give it lift, the compartments with the keepsake drawers are reminiscent of an old desk giving it a timeless feel, the doors are book-matched curly koa with handmade pulls -the consummate artist’s touch, and the catch is a rare earth magnet which gives just a soft pull back when opening the doors. It was a joy to make and it was my masterpiece and it did not sell. Honestly, I poured so much energy into the cabinet that I was deflated after the fair.
I went to the Mainland, came back and walked out into my shop and thought: “This is what I do. This is my heart and soul right here. Get to work!”
Two days later, the orders starting pouring in (that’s God you know). I’ve been working like a crazy fool ever since. Today the Gallery where I parked this cabinet called to say that it was sold. REALLY! That’s awesome…......

Beautiful Cabinet Cathy!! I like the “Randomness” of the drawers and shelves, the pulls, and (of course) the Koa!!
Congratulations on the Sale, and on your “busy-ness”, but I’m not surprised… Your work is Top-notch!!

I walk on Koa every day….400 sq ft master bedroom and home office. Beautiful floor.
I like the Koa better on your cabinet. )

Great work Kathy! I can see you put your heart and soul into this piece. That’s probably why it took longer for God to find the right owner for it. Congratulations on your orders.

That is outstanding! The cabinet is a work of art. I’m jealous.
