Sofa End Tables

One of my first woodworking projects – a pair of very simple sofa end tables. The shelf & top are 1×12 pine, and the legs are laminated 1×2 that I cut down & made 1-1/2” square.

This was my first time ever using a dado blade on my TS – I used it to cut notches in the legs and main boards so that everything locks together nice & snug. I still have to get the hang of it, but the tables are extremely solid considering their held together by nothing more than glue. Maybe on my next project I’ll try some dowels of an alternating color wood.

-- Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chalk, cut it with an axe, and hammer to fit.

Hey, those fit in really nice with the sofa style!. The joinery looks really nice a solid too! I think a nice dark stain on them would be a nice contrast to the sofa!! Maybe a similar color the the railing on the steps???

Reminds me of projects from the late 50’s and early 60’s from high school wood shop – always loved the shapes and designs – well done!
