Oak Dining Table, trestle table

I haven’t posted anything for a while, mostly because I can’t work in my shop during the summer months (I left a meat thermometer on my workbench during a particularly hot day in July and it registered 135 degrees). This is a table I made for a friend recently. It is a trestle table made of red oak and is easily moved as the stretcher beam is attached with knock down hardware and the table top attached to the trestles with easily removed bolts.

This is my first attempt at a table and since I was laid off from my regular job a while ago, I am thankful that I am able to make a few bucks doing something I enjoy.

A bad day in the workshop is still better than a “good” day in a cubicle.

Beautiful table.

And couldn’t agree more about the workshop vs. the cube!

I like your composition. Very careful and and lovely grain selection. Red oak can be hard on the eyes, but this is nice to look at. Beautiful finish. How did you finish it and did you have to spend a lot of time pawing through stacks of lumber, or did you order what you wanted? Either way, really nice red oak.
