This is my first deer grunt call. Made with walnut from a tree that was harvested two years ago. I made this for a friend who has his own hunting show. Trying to get more experience on my lathe I had to try and make one. Its two pieces a barrel and a stopper. Hardest part was turning the tenons on the stopper to fit into the barrel and corregated tubing snug and the groove cuts for some orings. I pulled the corregated tubing back in the pics to expose some of the tenon on the stopper end. The holes in the center where drilled out on my lathe with a drill chuck mounted on my ram. The reed and tone board mount in them. I used tung oil for the finish low gloss. I would to have put a more elaborate finish on it but he said best to keep it natural no gloss. He said you would be amazed at what a deer can see. lol
Sorry for the pic quality I shipped it off to my buddy before i had a chance to photograph it. He sent me some pics via cell phone so I could post it. Im working on another one made of cocobolo with maple inlays now. Should be complete sometime next week.
