The chapel at the hospital were I work was robbed of its bronze cross. I suppose with the price of semi precious metal being so high the temptation was too great. I just hope it went for food and not drugs.
When I noticed the cross was missing I decided to build one. Made of white Oak the cross is joined to the base with a mortise and tenon joint that goes down to the second tier of the base. It was fun to build and finished with sprayed lacquer it turned out okay. The last photo is in its final resting place. I had a little brass plate engraved simply with “Donated to Spiritual Care 2011”. It feels nice to give back to the community and working with wood.
Thanks for looking.

Nice little project, and a great use of your talents.
Scary that someone would actually take the cross.
