I needed a new mallet as the one I purchased long ago at a yard sale has been decimated by the mortises I am chopping to build my new workbench. Drawing on some inspiration from lysdexic, swirt, and PurpLev I set out to make one from some maple I had around the shop. Overall dimensions of the head are 2.5” d x 6.5” l x 4” w and overall length from top to bottom is 14”. The head is three layers of maple laminated with some pipe solder melted into the middle layer to add mass. The wedges are oak from some old beams a friend gave me.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I will let you know about the wallop factor, I hope to chop some mortises later this week.
