I remember this chair as a boy in my Aunts house. It was covered in yellow vinyl. I rescued it from a storage building in 2009.
It got a complete rebuild to tighten the frame up and a coat of Minwax Early American stain followed by a couple coats of Lacquer. It is not an uncommon chair but the detail in it makes it worth restoration for me.
We sent it off to my friend Larry Marsh for Upholstering. We stuck with the yellow color but use a good quality fabric in place of the vinyl. It makes a nice bedroom chair.

You ever get to TX, I’ve got a guest spot teaching these techniques in my classroom. Really great work.

Nice job, Roz. And the best is it stays in the family to become an heirloom.

Very nice. “Recycling” furniture can be lots of fun, along with memories that arise from it. Thanks for sharing.
Have your say...
