This is Lap Steel Number 1 from Blue Haze Instruments. It turned our great. Real good sustain due to the over 1” thick and extra wide solid maple neck. The neck runs straight through the boxes and the boxes are braced inside with 1”x1/2” maple strips. The scale length is 24” and the frets are pin-striping tape. It is tuned similar to a Dobro but in what is called ‘low G’. One single coil pickup for amplification. The bridge is 1”x1” stainless angle and it is grounded to jack to prevent hum. Brass screws hold tail end box cover on so it can be opened to get to electronics if need be in the future. Lap steel number 2 nearly finished and have three more started! They’re fun to build and even more fun to play! Thanks for the boxes Sam!!

I have no idea about instruments but I like the look of this one and can appreciate the work and design planning going into it .
Looks great!

HA! I do like Dobro’s. Especially Jerry Douglas in Union Station. Too bad there isn’t a way to include a link to a audio .mp3 file so we can hear what these sound like.
