Here are some simple corbles my boys and I built for our current house. Unlike the mantle, these were finished and are now off my to-do list.

From what I can see these look really good. What wood are they made of. As a suggestion why not include some more pictures at different angles. It gives a more complete perspective of the project.

Another question I have is how did you finish it?

The wood used here is just fir and pine. The finish is a heavy medium brown stain (that nearly provides full coverage) with dabbed and smeared darker stain over the top. Overall it is a mix between a glazed look and real stain. I’ll include a couple more pictures and some additional examples of the finish.
