This project is a “double recycle”. I built it originally with oak legs up the corners and didnt like it so removed the legs, sanded all the glue away, built the base/secret compartment, and stained it with dark walnut to eliminate the yellow streaks in the wood. I like this version much better. Box is Ipe/Brazilian Walnut flooring with oak ply floor and base floor. Finish is wiped on Spar. Use it to store camera and camera stuff. Hinges are recycled cabinet hinges from daughters ongoing remodel [never ending]! Dimensions are 15 1/2×7 x 5 1/2.

Good looking box, Doc. You did a superb job after getting rid of the legs and the residue glue. Turned out super. The way you put in the secret compartment is ingenious!

Nice one! The hidden compartment is really neat.
