This is the proto-type that I started in May11.
Yes, the pics are hard to see; sorry.
No pattern other than a ‘Googled’ photo.
She is approx. 16” tall.
Made from scrap pine shelving.
Painted satin black (flat black would have looked better)
Belting and beadwork my handiwork.
The second one is coming out much better.
Comments welcome.

She’s REALLY COOL, Wiggy!

I believe you’ve just inspired me to try carving a tiki god!
I’ve never attempted ANY sort of carving before; can I do it with ordinary bench chisels? I’d be grateful for any tips you could share.

Thank you, Donny boy.
You questioned if the other one had a sister… well, here she is.
I do almost all of my carving/shaping with my Dremel 4000 and a set of diamond tipped bits… Octo sander for the rest. (Love using it because it makes lots and lots of dust!)
The neat thing about making these is that (so long as you get all the naughty bits in the right places) you really can’t screw it up too badly.
A “Tiki”, huh? That sounds interesting.
I have been commisioned to come up with a Kachina doll in the form of a raven woman/medicine woman effect. Fur/feathers/long beaked bird’s head mask…
Something else to put on the project list.
You get busy… I want to see this “Tiki” of yours.
