Top is a small scrap of curly maple framed in a strange piece of Jatoba. Sides are red oak and Jatoba. Bottom is a doug fir scrap from my dads barn. Box joints with shop made jig and HF dado before I bought the Freud set. The top pivots on a 3/8” steel pin. Finish is several coats of wiped on Spar.

Great box… the frame and panel top….(I really enjoy doing those).....did you cut the rails and stiles by hand or use a bit? I like the pivoting tops….(as long as the top is flat – early on I found out the problem when you have a curved or offset top….gets to be a problem if items can extend into the top on the inside of the box – can’t rotate the top then). Nicely finished.

I wonder if a handle of some kind would look nice….would be easier to tell where the pivot is with a handle on the opposite corner (I do this with alot of my pivot tops….especially when for us old folk…LOL).
