You have to start somewhere… This was originally meant to be a naturally finished alder pen & pencil box made with hand cut finger joints. The sawing didn’t go as accurately as I imagined, so I did a lot of filling in with sawdust and glue, then painted and decorated the box to hide the ugliness. My daughter snapped it up so it now holds her sunglasses and waitressing tips.

I did a box a lot like this one, it looks like,
Is yours an inlay? If so, is that silver?

Josh, I love your one – the rosewood inlay looks great! How did you carve out the recess in the maple so cleanly?
Unfortunately no, my decoration isn’t inlay. It’s silver acrylic paint.
Have your say...
