This was one of those spur of the moment ideas. I was at my sister’s house installing her vanity

when I saw an ugly plastic white banana hanger in her beautiful hand made wooden kitchen. I decided she needed a better looking banana hanger.

I actually found a project here

and modified the design a little.

I took a day off of work and made a bunch from scraps that I had.

Rather than just screwing the two pieced together, I decided to try a sliding dovetail. I thought it would be neat to be able to take it apart and store it in a drawer if it wasn’t being used. That worked on two out of the 5. The other 3 needed a few screws in them because they were a bit loose.

From left to right in the first picture we have: butternut, goncala alves or tiger wood, curly maple, chenchen, and butternut again.

I threw some Watco danish oil on them and they were good to go.

Count me in on loving the Chechen one. The Gonco’s no slouch either. I’ll be stealing this idea as well;)
