This is an eight foot long window seat built for a friend. I built it in two four foot sections. Each section opens to storage below (see picture 2) It is constructed of clear hemlock with birch plywood panels. I assembled it using tongue and groove joints with pocket hole reinforcement. I designed it to be mounted to wall but customer wanted to have it free standing for “decorating flexibility (whatever that is…)”

After building it, they said to paint it glossy white… What a waste of beautiful wood. See picture 4 for the unfinished version (left end).

Oh well, so it goes…

That is so sad. Sounds like my wife and the pergola. I wanted stained, but she said she wanted it painted white to match the fence…. At least she told me that before I bought the wood and started on the project.

Beautiful work though. I am sure they will get many good years of them.
