Elwood: It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark… and we’re wearing sunglasses.
Jake: Hit it.

Yup, Jake and Elwood – two of the all time greats.

How the world of comedy ever survived after Belushi’s death I’ll never know. He could do more with one raised eyebrow than most entire movie scripts.

Enough reminiscing…........

Pic 3 shows original image, of course.

Work is done on 1/8” Baltic Birch Plywood and measures approx 7 1/2×8 1/2 inches.

Finished with a soak in lemon oil and backed by thick felt.

For those who have seen some of my pieces here before, this is the 2nd Blues Brothers piece I have done. First one is here. – done over 300 days ago.

Jake: Uh, Bob, about the money for tonight.
Bob: Oh, yeah, $200, and you boys drank $300 worth of beer.

One of my favorites! I may have mentioned – my son is a Joliet cop. I remember seeing this movie at the theater when I was in university. Ah . . . the memories!

Beautiful depiction of Jake and Elwood!

Great job….those BB movies were amazing….they must have cleared out the junk yards for all those cars they crashed. The music is what I really enjoyed though….being a big fan of the blues….We have lost several of the artists in those movies…including Belushi….so they now represent historic footage to go with those great one liners.

But would ‘The Penguin’ approve, surely yes. Great post, Bob. Keep it up.

Ahhhh! you captured it, both the moon faced Belushi and the then-svelt other guy;) It’s an absolutely fantastic rendition of a true legacy. So awesome.

Well,.....That was a little rude. Oh…’re a Cheeze head from Milwaukee! That explains it.

Couldn’t come up with a quote or something else other than that?

Nazi Leader: I’m gonna get those guys! Ahhhhh!!! SPLASH!!!”
(Jake and Elwood driving thru the Nazi demonstration and making them jump off the bridge.)

Are there any Il. Nazis left? Haven’t seen one in the 30 yrs I’ve lived here. It’s just a movie.

Sorry you had to go to Joliet HS. What a dump that must have been. I had to drive down there to pick up a new Dana 44 rear end for my Jeep Wrangler I’m modifying and the junk yard was right next to the Joliet prison which is now shut down. It was huge.
My helper and I were standing in front and looking up at it and he says: “Lived there for 5 years for stabbing somebody.”

WHAT?!!! think you know somebody, Geez.

One last thing…..why would anybody move from Joliet to MILWAUKEE WISCONSIN? Like snow much?

and…..what’s the difference between F…n IL. Nazis and your UNION THUGS!

one more jab….....GO CUBS! AND WHITE SOX!
one proud FIB.

Ps -I say this with a sense of humor so please….. don’t be hatin.

John and Jim Belushi are from Wheaton, not Joliet. Dan Akroyd is from Canada. I actually moved to Nebraska from Wheaton, then Milwaukee for school (Marquette). Careful with the “union thug” talk. My wife and I are both teachers. Hundreds of thousands of people protested the anti-union legislation at the capitol and only like 4 were arrested. Nobody I know or work with took any time off work, despite the public perception being that schools all over the state were shut down. I am a Bears/White Sox/Blackhawks fan, so you’re preaching to the choir there. Tough being a Bears fan “behind the cheddar curtain”.

Normally, I would walk away but you want to bring it up, so I tread carefully and respond in defense of non union workers…the majority that will end up paying for your unfunded pensions.

“Nobody I know or work with took any time off work.”......... whatever you say. I don’t read or own a TV either.

“My wife and I are both teachers.”....... of children?..... with that mouth?

“I hate f’in Illinois Nazis.”........nice.

Ps – I’m a Greenbay Packers fan too…but don’t tell anybody.

Konquest and Mark – You both need a “time-out” I think. Agree to disagree and stop it.

This is my project page and NOT a discussion on the benefits of Unions or Nazis or whatever.

I’ve kept quiet and let you guys banter back and forth, but after five posts that are TOTALLY not about my work, I’m going to ask that neither of you post to this project again.

Don’t think I’m being cruel – I DO appreciate your thoughts – as long as they are about the work shown.
