Is it red or is it brown, personally I dont care a whole lot, the Australian Malle burls have captured my imagination! This is a really heavy hollowform , I was chicken to cut it too thin because of my inexperience with this kinda burl and how tough it may or may not be, the dollar bill should indicate scale ok, I have had a tough time getting the burls to accept the finsih exceedingly well, it will probably get more laquer as time and patience permit. This stuff is kind of expensive, but well worth it IMHO. ANother thanks to Dave175 for his kind advice, guidance and loan of sharp gouges! It was cut on a Grizzly lathe and finished (so far) with Mohawk Heavy Body Sanding Sealer and High Tone Finish.
