my first box , i used an old pallet i got from a dumpster . not sure about the wood type . i finally got half decent miter joints , next time i will try to spline the corners ( with lots of l.j. help .) also i used a water based stain for the first time . im not very good at finishing yet and hope to get lots better . i would never attempted this project if not for this web site , so thanks to you all for your posts .

Congrats on your first box! It’s funny yet mindful of all the things we learn and would do different if we had not tried it in the first place.
I made my first box a few weeks ago and learned so much. Keep up the good work!

Your off to a great start it’s a very nice box. However, as a cancer survivor I want you to quit the smoking and stay healthy, there’s alot of wood to cut yet don’t get cut short.

Looks real nice. Hard to believe it was pallet wood. You did a great job with the finish too.

Very good, first box. You’ve got more patience than me. I don’t do hinges, mostly.
