I was going to wait until this Sunday to post this project (for obvious reasons), but since my Mother just called and said she received it in the mail already, I can post it now!
A few weeks ago, my Mom dropped a couple of hints that she would like another scrollwork from me and she really likes hummingbirds – she already has a similar project from me at her office.
I started this the night I got back to my shop. I pieced two designs I found on the ‘net together and came up with this.
I picked a piece of very fragrant red cedar because I love how busy the patterns in the wood are – sort of mimics the flight of the bird.
Dimensions are around 4×8 inches and about a 1/4 inch thick.
Treatment consists of a long soak in lemon oil and then backed by thick felt.
Happy Early Mother’s day to all you Moms out there!

Nice.
I really like humming birds, and you have done them justice.
Happy Mother’s day to you too.

That is a gorgeous piece. Love all the detail work, the subject, and the wood. You did a great job with all those detailed cuts.
