First I’d like to say… THANK YOU ANDY!!!!! for that awesome blog you posted. I would have never been able to do this without your blog. Just a BIG thank you from me, my family, and all the future recipients of these gifts that I will be giving.
This is a gift for my cousin’s wedding. We’ve kinda lost touch over the years so I thought this would be a good way to start catching up. I wanted to make him something he had never seen before…. and then I thought of the “Andy” box. There are still some small flaws in it, but since I’m new to woodworking…. I’m labeling it as “character”... hahaha.
The box is curly maple & walnut. The finish is General finishes arm-r-seal. The inserts and top drawer is scrap ambrosia maple from my last jewelry box.
Thanks for looking!

Nice sculpting Alex I think Andy is a real master of this kind of technique, so for your first attempt it’s brilliant. I sort of like the symmetry of the design you have given it your personal stamp, it kind of reminds me the of the old 50’s Rockola jukebox

Very fine work. I am almost finished with my first one. I think I like yours better. I really dig the depth of your sculpting. Thanks for showing.

You did a wonderful job on the sculpting. Can’t wait for the weather to warm up so I can give it another try.

Real nice box! I also see a Tux. But a mighty fine one.
I really like the lid lift.
I haven’t made an Andy box but I will in the near future.
Great job.!
