Fab Eight? Scrollworks

These two pieces were commissioned works for two separate co-workers who saw my previous work with this pattern.

Both of my co-workers are buying these to give as gifts to others – nice guys!

After I completed the first one, I was asked to do the second one – no stack cutting this time. Doh!

Pic 2 is done on curly maple plywood and is 1/8” thick.

Pic 3 is done on solid antique cherry – it was resawn and then book-matched to 1/8” thick as well. This particular piece I feel is the best one I have created so far. The hard cherry allowed my to use very tiny blades for added detail I couldn’t get on the plywood pieces.

Both pieces measure 10×12 inches overall and are finished with a soak in lemon oil and backed with thick felt.

As I have stated before – this has to be my favorite pattern to cut as it really comes to life when you put on the felt backing.

Enjoy!

Again, this looks good.
You sent me the pattern to this months ago, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet.
So, you decided to tackle the cherry again.
I remember someone saying never again.
Never say never, eh Bob.

Chad,

You have a very good memory – I did indeed say I never wanted to work with solid cherry again!

Two things changed that though:

1) I have since upgraded to a MUCH better scrollsaw
2) A paying customer is ALWAYS right! ;-)

Thank you all for the compliments!

Prefer the Maple, Bob. Guess I just like strong contrast.
