My 4 yr old daughter wanted a dollhouse for all of her doll stuff. My wife and I wanted to build something that could act as a dollhouse now, but be used in a girl’s room for many years to come as well. So, this is what we came up with. It is essentially a bookcase with a roof painted in an enamel white color. (Had to veto the pink that the 4-yr old wanted!)

The carcass is made of birch plywood and the face frame is poplar. Its probably hard to tell, but the face frame for the “roof” pieces actually overlaps the face frame for the remainder of the bookcase/house.

The most difficult part of this project was that I didn’t make the shelves adjustable. This complicated the painting process significantly!

As you can see from the second picture, the customer absolutely loved it!

Great idea and yes she does look like a happy customer.
