Finished fly rod.

Please review my blog entry for specifics regarding the wood, process and why it took me so long. I learned a lot through the process.

Now with my brothers first fish using his new rod.

That’s a beauty of a rod. Could you please add some information on the woods, techniques, parts, etc.?

I have not mastered the rod building yet but have two with wood grips made by a friend that I use. Not only are they a joy to look at they are joy to use especially for a woodworker. You will enjoy it. When not in use they hang on the wall. Nice job and thanks for sharing.

This is absolutely beautiful! I recognize the cherry main parts but the rings and inlay sections are a mystery.

Very nicely done Matt! I really like the combination of wood and cork colors, nicely matched. I to am a Rod Builder but I haven’t made my own handles perhaps I will in the future. Thanks for posting!

Common Matt!

You are not “finished” till we see a picture of you landing a fish using that rod…...

Nicely done. I enjoyed reading the blog.
