Arbutus, Block to Boot - Part 2, Spit and polish!

After a 3 hour marathon carving the boot as shown in the previous gallery I sanded the boot again with 220 grit sandpaper and stained with Minwax gunstock orange, completed with a varathane matte finish. The arbutus had some severe checks in it and as the carving progressed I found that the wood had worm damage too. Both add character to the final piece. Enjoy!

I swear, i wish i could send you every beautiful chunk of wood that i do not know how to show its beauty, because you could surely do it right!! -beautiful pieces, beautiful carving, delightful every time!
