I made this as a surprise gift for my parents 50th anniversary. It looks like their house did when they moved into 40+ years ago. I took it to them in pieces so it would fit in our vehicle then assembled it there. It measures 36×30 x 24. Coated with waterproofing sealer. Made from pallet lumber, oak and poplar.

Neat birdhouse. What is the construction method, looks kind of like finger joints with a kerf to give the look of logs. I want to try something like that, my wife loves birds.

What a great and wonderful gift! I love it when bird houses and dog houses look like the owner’s own home. I bet they loved this!!!

harrywho, it’s build like a log house. Each log is 1 inch square with a 45 degree bevel on the face, top and bottom. Each log is then nail into the other under it. I based it all on 1 inch equals 1 foot. You can buy plans from John at www.extremebirdhouse.com , He is the originator of this style. I just liked it so much I had to try it.

John, thanks. I just finished a Cape Cod. I’m waiting for the customer to mount it and send me a picture. I’ll post it when I get it.
