I made this jewelry box for my wife’s birthday (hope she likes it!). My first try at one of these and I found it challenging. I took inspiration and careful study from the great work and invaluable tutorial of the venerable Argyllshire— I’ve learned a lot from building this one and look forward to putting that learning to good use in my next ones.

The base and hidden front drawer are sapele. The sides are tiger maple splined with sapele. Top is glue up of sapele, wenge and birdseye maple. Handle and trim are wenge.

Finished with blond shellac I added some Transtint to for warmth. Will apply a topcoat of wax polish in a few days.

Nice work. I love hiding spots ;-)

Great idea and you carried it off very well. It will be loved for sure.
