I am really new at the scroll saw and enjoying what it can do. My grandson, Cooper’s, birthday is coming up soon and I wanted to make something special for him in my shop. I decided on a sign for his bedroom door, boys like to have pride of ownership even at 3 yrs old. For the special addition I decided to try my hand at cutting out his face in wood and attaching it to the sign I will be making next. Here’s the result of several hours of computer manipulation and scroll saw cutting. The fist picture, on the left, is the completed cut out looking straight down on the the oak background, pictures in the middle are cutting in progress and the last picture on the right, is Cooper the picture I used to start the project

Any hint in technique will be highly appreciated!!

First try at the scroll saw huh???..........pretty darn good!!! And the last thing I want to do with a “MasterSergeant” is to come off being flippant…... but my advice on technique is (Sir) ......... practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice…. you get the idea.

LOL, that was good. My Master Sergeant Grumpy days are long past now I look at all the fun stuff in life and let those who stepped up when I retired carry on in my place.

Thanks on the compliment, I have all these neat tools that I have to learn to use, Oh, fun I have ahead of me.
