I built this a few years ago because I wanted a place to charge my phones and other devices and I didn’t want the cords all over the place.

I built it out of solid oak and did flocking (for the first time) on the top to make sure vibrating phones wound’t knock the rest of my stuff off of it. The flocking turned out well, and I may one day use the technique on the inside of a jewelery box.

The modeling was done ahead of time, at that time, I was using 3DS Max, but now I’m using sketchup, and I enjoy it a lot. I am a very visual person and I like to make everything digitally before I cut my first piece (mainly because I’m not smart enough to not mess it up without it).

I like the cubby hole design. I have been trying to figure out a good way to hold my dsl router, telephone base, and a few other electronics. I think maybe I’ll try this.
