I made this cross as a Confirmation gift for my brother-in-law. I was his sponsor. The body of the cross is cocobolo (that’s what it was sold as, but it seems to be too dark for cocobolo) and the long inlays are purpleheart and hickory. The square in the center is blood wood.
I didn’t originally intend for the inlays to extend beyond the body of the cross. I was going to flush cut them after installation, but I thought they looked better long, kind of giving it more dimension. (the sticks in the background are to elevate for drying- I never took a presentation photo). I sanded it up to 2000 with car polishing compound and finished it with minwax tung oil finish.

Very nice assembly of some of God’s most beatiful woods and your craftsmanship.
