This box is made out of Pennsylvania Cherry constructed with box joints. I finished it with one coat of 1# shellac and five coats of a tung oil finish. One of the issues I ran into was the width of the box using 1/2 boards and the amount of room between the sink and the wall would not allow a couple of the larger bottles to fit. I was afraid if I made the box wall any thinner the box may be too weak. To solve the problem I used a 3.5 inch forstner bit to cut a slight indentation in the boards; two with indentation on the front and rear wall and one in the middle on the front wall only. I also decided the face was too long and carved a V pattern into it.

nice solution to the larger bottles, looks great. the “V” you carved in the front breaks up the long front and looks great. nice work !!!

Good solution to the large bottle idea. Looks like it should serve it purpose quite well.

Great idea and execution. If I had 4 of these I am sure they would all be full.
