The spice box of cloves was empty and was in the recycle bin when I got the idea of turning a box and inserting the plastic box inside. The plastic box is 1 3/4” on diameter, so now this wooden box has a screw on top.
The box is 2 3/16” o.d. a 1 3/4 fornster bit mad a perfect hole for the plastic insert. I drilled a hole in the bottom of the box to let the air out, it was a very tight fit. It ended up right at 3” high. I pulled it out once but had to use a plyers. The top was epoxied in.

That’s awesome you can keep the good spices in that one!

I forgot to wash it out, so it has a strong Clove smell. The next one will smell like Nutmeg, I guess.

Great Idea, I hate the way our spice rack looks now.
Have to figure a way to mark the contents though, I would be able to mark the shelves and put things back but the LOML would not be able to work that way.
Type A’s should only marry type C’s it broadens both their horizons.

I’m going to do some more of these as the plastic containers become available. I see some taller ones in the future.
I was thinking of brass strips with the name of the spice stamped on them. Or just paint the name on the box.

I don’t mind at all, Branch. I’d love to see your rendition. It’ll probably be a segmented box. Love your bowls.
Have your say...
