This wood was surprisingly easy to turn, especially considering that it’s supposed to be the hardest wood on the planet. I make a mistake assembling the pen cracking part of it in the process. I fixed it by cutting off the cracked part and making a new center band to make up for the difference in pen length. Thanks for looking.

That’s a great idea for using custom center bands. I’m going to have to play more with that, as I regularly mess up my pens especially near the ends of the blanks. I really like the softness and natural look of a wooden center band, too. Do you use CA to finish your bands as well, or just use a really hard wood that you can polish without a layered topcoat?

I used HUT EEE wax. I didn’t want the CB to be as Shinny and the rest of the pen.

Nice fix! I have a couple of blank sections awaiting the exact same treatment.

LV looks so good, I hope to get a hold on some one of these days. As a pen it’s wonderful, the center band makes for a very nice detail!
