Walnut bookcase of my own design. All boards are bookmatched from 8/4 stock (dressed to just over 3/4). Both sides were obtained from a single board, and all shelves obtained from a second board. The backing was done from several 4/4 boards.
Shelves are joined to sides using sliding dovetails, and the shiplap is fit into grooves in top and bottom back-splashes, with square cut nails to finish off and hold in place.
A round-overs, cutouts, profiling etc. we done using only hand tools, while the sliding dovetails were machine cut.

Nice work, I like the finish is great. I also like the book matching also.

Beautiful! I wouldn’t have the heart to put any books in front of those bookmatched boards!
