I made about 10 of these for Christmas presents. Half were made with maple and cherry. The other half with beech. I believe I got the plans from Wood Magazine although I don’t recall the issue (I could dig it out if need be). All were made with scraps from other projects so basically the materials cost nothing. I don’t know much about finishing so I experimented. Some were finished with boiled linseed oil & poly. Others with boiled linseed oil alone. A few were finished with just spray on poly.

Niftey for sure. I made a couple for gifts also using some contrasting local woods. Good use of small cut-offs. I cut a bunch of extra pieces with the intent of making more but haven’t gotten back to it.

I downloaded this pattern but there are very few detailed instructions for the novice I am. What method did you use to cut out the dados on each of the rest pieces at that angle?

Have your say...
