January, 2011—This box is unique because of the legs, which are rather dramatic in an effort to be ornamental. This is a box that has many potential uses. Perhaps it will hold keepsakes. Or it could adorn a special place in a home and store the ashes of a beloved pet.

This box is made from 5 different woods (not including the bottom and the handle supports). It has a soft clear lacquer finish. No stains were used.

Total outside dimensions: 15.75-inches wide, 9.5-inches deep, 8-inches high.
Inside dimensions: 11-3/8 inches by 5 1/8 inches by 2 3/4 inches deep.

I am offering this box for sale. Follow this link for information:

Very creative, Art!

Great wood choices and placement as well.

Those legs certainly grabbed my attention.

Very nice piece. I am actually in the middle of making, well destroying a project somewhat like this. I am having trouble with the corner notches, splines, mortises, what ever it is called. How did you make those so nice if you don’t mind me asking. My jig didn’t work out too well, and I couldn’t get the notches to match the legs I made. Any tips would be appreciated.

I am know body around here, and I’m not trying to piss an one off, just offer an opinion.
I think the box and the shape of the legs is awesome, but the legs themselves should be of one wood. Curly Maple would fit the bill here I think.

A sweet looking design you’ve come up with, eye appealing to say the least. Thanks for showing BC
