This is 5” shallow bowl turned out of Cocobolo. At some point, the wood (or tree) had some bugs eating at it, so there are some wormholes throughout the lighter colored wood. If anything, I think they give the bowl some character and uniqueness. This bowl was finished with many coats of oil, followed by a coat of beeswax.

Very nice bowl and good looking wood. What type of oil did you use for the finish?

Nice turning. I like, what looks like some kind of multi-legged bug crawling up(or down) the side. Very nice use of the piece.

Nice looking bowl. And I like the 3 ring circus on the bottom and the worm holes. :)

Wow…that is beautiful. The shape really accentuates wood. Thanks for sharing.

I’ll bet that took some tool re-sharpening! Beautiful piece.

So, when working with wood like this where it has the wormholes, is there anything you need to do when working with it? Anything special when finishing it up? Thank you
