Bowl for my Wife

My wife grew up in a house in Portland Maine and lived for about 26 years there.One day we were going by that house and notice that they cut one of the trees down and it was plied up on the lawn and I said you should go and ask them if you can take a piece of it and i will make a bowl out of it. Well next thing I knew she was out of the car and knocking on the door and this is what i ended up with.I have no idea what the species is i have to do some research on it.

Looks like maple; based on the remaining bark, it is possibly silver maple (Acer saccharinum).
