Still warm from the creative oven….my attempt at an “Asian” design box. Curly Maple and Tigre with tapered sides and lift-off lid. The lid has a 1/8 inch lip that sits inside the box to seat it securely. The bottom is set into dados and lined with velvet. Approx. 6×6 inches and finished in natural poly.

The design works quite nicely. The contrasting woods do not overpower the box as it would if the entire lid was dark. A bit more work, but a much more elegant result. I like it a lot.

Looking great John. It has some really nice lines and I like the contrast of the two woods.

Very nice design and execution. Can you add pics of the inside?

Looks like a nice little box. I like the lines and wood combination.

I also vote for more pictures.

Looks great. You could also cut out windows in the sides and have very unique lights
