First Shop Stool

This stool was completed in May 2009. The materials used were Maple, Oak, and Cherry. A guy I used to work with gave me the material for the top. I think that it started out to be a cutting board or something. The legs came from a 4/4 piece of White Oak and the wedges are Cherry. Because of the limitations of the material I was unable to make the stool to the exact dimensions of the plans so I used the plans as a guide and made the stool as close as I could. All in all it was great experience on the lathe. Thanks for looking.

Great job! Is the seat convex? the thing about art Inn your head the image starts out as a cutting board and It ends up as a nice shop stool. thanks!

Wedged tenons, nice!

My tush would slide right off that stool…much too small for my big butt :)

It’s unusual to see a convex seat, how comfortable is it? I’m thinking of building a shop stool soon, this looks like it came together really well.
