Project Information

Simple box, made from Ash 1/4" stock. Made by cutting rabets on the edges snd a dado to create the slide. Purpleheart for the turn lock, with small brass nail cinched over on the inside. Finished with Danish Oil and Howard's Feed & Wax, buffed.

This was made to house a Bevel Gauge which I made last month. I lined the bottom and sides to keep it in placem Sent to a great Guy here on LJ.

Thanks for looking and comments always welcome.

Eric, great work. The bevel gauge is beautiful and the box is icing on the cake. Someone is very lucky.

Sweet looking gauge Eric (and the box too, of course 8^)

The triad of brass, taper near the blade, ant the thumb screw are A1. I hate my small bevel with a wing nut clamp. Always have one ear that extends beyond the body.

It's a very nice box, Eric! I like the idea of the twist latch on the sliding top box. May have to steal that idea.

DaveS, thank you. White icing on a chocolate cake.

Splinter, thank you. It made a good set, I have gotten to the point that the small projects need a box to go with them.

JWoodCraft, thank you. The perfect fit, and I had to figure out something for the latch or the lid would slide right out.

Bandit, thank you. Now if I can get them built with hand tools.

Phil, thank you. I have more ideas in my head for boxes.

DaveP, thank you. I had thought about magnets, a small block inside, then it hit me. A latch on the outside, and I remembered that in old school boat building, nails were cinched. Liked the twisty knob better. Feel free to take the idea.

Topa, thank you. These are too much fun.

Ron, thank you. I do my best, and still learning new tricks.

Pottz, thank you. The can either make you or break you. I do try to take care of all of them, keep edges sharp, and the old floor tools oiled and in tune. Need to find some more of the older tools.

Another double win - tool and box. I like the lock. I've made a box with a sliding lid but didn't think of adding locking mechanism. Great idea…that I may borrow on the future. ;)
