Project Information

A quick lathe project, made from Ash with a Wenge accent. The handles are about 6" long, with total length just over 3' finished with a shellac and BLO for a friction polish. Ferrule is a brass compression ring epoxyed to include the skewer.

Had most of it completed last night, and glued everything together this morning and polished the brass this evening.

Just in time for summer bond fires, and the grandkids are going to be here in July.

Thanks for looking and comments welcome.

Nice, bet they make the skewed smores or hot dogs or whatever taste better.

Ron, thanks. Yes they could be used for anything cooked over an open flame.

Dave, thanks. Not a practice run, I have to sit this one out. Bunch of stuff going on this summer.

SteveN, thanks. Good times sitting around a campfire. As for the swap, to much going on this summer. I'll be tagging along though.

Phil, thanks. I didn't see it that way, now that you mentioned it.

Nice. What's also cool about your project is that you have the land to have a bond fire on.

Where did you get the SS bbq forks?

James, thanks. Yes I have an area down in the wood line for a nice camp fire, and a few face cords of wood cut from past downed trees.

The forks I found out on a scrap pile at work. So a salvation, and free. The best part.

Those are great Eric. I made 4 sets 25 years ago and they're still in good shape. I should make new handles now that I have the lathe.
